General Game Description
Fantasy Folios is a game similar to fantasy sports but, instead of picking athletes, players pick publicly traded companies in order to compete against others in contests. We hope to make the stock market less intimidating and more fun by providing players with a platform to watch and track the performance of his/her lineup, including a view of their position compared to the folios of other players. We will supply relevant data, (historic and delayed 15 minutes), in the form of price quotes, detailed company profiles, graphs, statistics, news, and more. Submitting a company folio/lineup takes seconds and contests require no management once they have begun.Use fantasy funds (i.e fake money initially added to user account) to enter contests or to create one.
Contest Rules
Contests not marked, as “Guaranteed,” will run only if the required number of entrants has been reached before the start of the contest. If the required number of entrants for non-guaranteed contests has not been reached, the contest will be canceled, and any entry fees for that contest will be refunded back to the entrants (e.g. If a 100-person contest has only 99 entrants by the time the contest starts, and that contest is not marked as “Guaranteed,” then that contest will be cancelled and all 99 entrants will be refunded their entry fee).
Deadlines
Contests can no longer be entered once the scheduled game time begins. Lineup edits are permitted prior to contest start time (in some cases the contests must fill before an edit can be made). After the market closes, lineups cannot be edited and companies cannot be swapped out.
Cancelling Entries
Entries cannot be canceled so please choose wisely.
Contest Settlement & Payments
Once a contest has settled, winnings will be distributed and reflected in a users balance typically within 48 hours. All winnings will be made in fake dollars.
Winning Prizes
All winning prizes are established and made known to contest entrants in advance of each contest and are listed on each respective contest page. In the event of a tie, Fantasy Folios will combine the winning prizes and evenly distribute the prizes to the tied entrants. For example: if three participants tie for 1st place, with 1st place winning $100, 2nd place winning $50, and 3rd place winning $30, each of the tied entrants will receive $60.
How to Play and Scoring
The object of each contest is to create a lineup that scores the highest amount of points based on the stock performance of up to three companies. Points are awarded based on the net percentage of gain or loss of an entrant’s folio during a contest.
- Selecting L (long) gives you points when the stock goes up.
- Selecting S (short) gives you points when the stock goes down.
